- STUDIOI to design Shams Studios centre, construction contract to be announced later this year
LONDON: Sharjah Media City, or Shams, has secured a design contract for its future media production hub.
Shams Studios will be designed by UAE engineering firm STUDIOI, which has been behind projects including the Park Hyatt hotel in Riyadh and SHA Island near Al Jurf, Abu Dhabi, according to reports on Thursday.
“The Shams Studios project reflects our unwavering commitment to developing cutting-edge infrastructure that meets the latest global advancements in media and production,” said Rashid Abdullah Al-Obad, CEO of Shams.
“This is not just an investment in objects; it is an investment in the future,” he added.
The property will include five studios, each measuring 1,710 square metres, for a total of 38,136 square metres.
It will also house post-production facilities, including editing suites, visual effects technology and sound processing rooms.
The complex will feature 20 creative spaces available for short- and long-term use, as well as workspaces, offices, conference rooms, a hotel and accommodation for cast and crew.
The construction contract is expected to be awarded in the fourth quarter of 2025.
