Another attack on tourists on an Egyptian beach: this time it wasn't a shark.

In the Egyptian province of Hurghada, a Russian tourist was hospitalized after being attacked by a large moray eel.

The incident occurred on the beach of the Beach Albatros Hotel, where the man was relaxing near the shore.

According to the SHOT Telegram channel, a moray eel unexpectedly bit a vacationer, and witnesses immediately called an ambulance.

The victim was hospitalized, and doctors provided him with the necessary assistance.

Experts note that moray eel bites are extremely painful and can cause severe inflammation.

Despite their impressive appearance, these fish rarely show aggression and attack people only if provoked or threatened.

The incident in Hurghada has sparked discussion among tourists, who are now even more careful about swimming in the sea.

Experts remind that when vacationing at resorts, it is important to exercise caution and avoid contact with marine animals, even if they appear harmless.

According to media reports, shark attacks remain the most dangerous. Between 2009 and 2024, approximately twenty attacks on humans were recorded in Egypt, some of which ended tragically.

In December 2024, a shark attacked tourists near Marsa Alam: one person died and another was seriously injured.

Previously, high-profile incidents occurred in Sharm el-Sheikh and Ras Mohammed. In 2010, three Russians and one Ukrainian were seriously injured after a shark attack in Ras Nasrani Bay.

In 2009, a French citizen died in the St. John reefs area, and two other divers were injured.
