The Ministry of Agriculture and Food has revealed which Belarusian products are popular in Africa.

Following a meeting with the President of Belarus on developing cooperation with African countries, Minister of Agriculture and Food Yuri Gorlov discussed which Belarusian products are in demand in that market.

The minister clarified that the African direction is still new for local companies, especially some countries on the African continent, reports a correspondent for the online publication Belnovosti.

They began to actively establish contacts and supply goods there relatively recently.

“Nevertheless, there is a product range for which we are working systematically,” BELTA quotes Yuri Gorlov as saying.

The products in question are skim milk powder and baby food. Export contracts have already been signed for these products.

Baby food is particularly popular. Belarusian companies have even addressed the needs of their African partners and are now packaging baby food in tin cans.

In the future, there are also plans to start sending Belarusian beef and poultry to Africa.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, together with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is working to supply agricultural machinery to African countries, as it is essential for developing agriculture and ensuring food security.

There are also agreements on the sale of plant protection products.

Belarus is also ready to help African countries build joint agricultural and agro-industrial facilities, such as feed mills, dairy farms, and poultry farms.

This is a lengthy process—it will take several years to establish production and processing. However, we are ready to take on this work, the minister explained.

“This is not a question for today, but we see prospects for cooperation with African countries,” Yuri Gorlov is convinced.

Gorlov added that to successfully operate in Africa, increase sales, and compete with other countries, Belarusian manufacturers need to work to reduce production costs and optimize their product range to meet the needs of this market.
