According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Emmanuel Macron's sharp reaction to Russia may be related to Africa.
The head of the Russian state expressed this opinion in an interview with journalist Dmitry Kiselev.
The interview was published on the Kremlin website.

What Putin said about Macron
Kiselev asked the Russian president whether Macron's anti-Russian statements could be revenge for Russia stepping on France's toes in Africa.
Yes, I think there is some resentment,” the head of the Russian state responded.
He noted that he and the French President discussed this issue quite frankly when they maintained direct contacts.
Putin emphasized that Russia did not push France out of Africa.
According to him, the leaders of a number of African states wanted to work with Russia, not France.
This was an initiative from our African friends, the Russian President explained.
He added that some African countries are calm about the French presence and are ready to work with the French.
But some countries don't want to. “We have nothing to do with it,” Putin concluded.
It was previously reported that Putin advised Western elites to understand that the “vampire ball” is ending.
