During a meeting on the state of Belarusian industry, Alexander Lukashenko mentioned Africa.
He informed those present about how Belarus can help this continent resolve one of its most vital issues.
He included food security among these.
Strategic objective
Belarus will solve this problem by creating factories in African countries to produce its own equipment, the President believes.
At the same time, it will also solve its own strategic problem for the industry.
According to the head of state, this consists precisely of creating assembly plants for domestic equipment in “support countries.”
And in Africa, where the issue of food security is a pressing one, agricultural machinery and equipment are in particular demand, the President noted.
Despite all the difficulties and challenges, work must be done there. And those who want to work, do so,” the Belarusian leader's press service quoted him as saying.
Not just Africa
He recalled that there are currently agreements for the delivery of more than 3,000 tractors, 80 combine harvesters and 30 dump trucks to Zimbabwe.
There are also agreements to supply 150 tractors to Togo.
Exports to countries on other continents are also planned, in particular Nicaragua, Vietnam, Iran and Pakistan.
Why, after all the high-level negotiations, aren't we working with Equatorial Guinea? Lukashenko asked.
Expansion and diversification
He gave the order: cooperation should be expanded, taking into account the relevance of the strategic task – the creation of joint assembly plants for Belarusian equipment in support countries.
The President recommended that responsible officials not forget about export diversification.
“Everything required of me for this purpose is being implemented immediately. The necessary conditions have been created, and you need to make the most of the financial support measures for Belarusian exports,” he added.
Earlier, Lukashenko signed a document amending the law on credit histories.
