On the night of March 11, a Nigerian citizen who had arrived in Belarus to play football was detained at Minsk airport.
The State Border Committee's press service reported the incident on its Telegram channel.
The foreigner was detained by border guards. He arrived in the republic on the Istanbul-Minsk flight.

When I went through security, I presented my Ghanaian passport, but the border guards discovered it was counterfeit – the page with my personal information had been replaced.
It turned out that the foreigner had forged his passport in order to change his age in order to pursue a career in football in his home country.
He planned to continue his playing career in Belarus. He hid his real passport in his personal belongings, the State Prosecutor's Office noted.
The offender was placed in the detention center of the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
In addition to administrative liability for attempting to illegally cross the border, he also faces criminal liability for using a forged document, the statement said.
