US President Donald Trump said he has “somewhat” decided to provide Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles, but the final decision will depend on how Kyiv plans to use them.

He said this during a briefing at the White House.

According to Trump, before transferring the precision weapons, he wants to find out the details of their potential use. “Yeah, I kind of made a decision, in general, if you think about it. I think I want to find out what they're going to do with them – where they're going to send them, probably…. I'll ask a few questions. I'm not looking for an escalation,” the American leader said.

Tomahawks are long-range cruise missiles capable of hitting targets at distances of over 1,500 kilometers.

Earlier, the media reported that the Trump administration's desire to transfer long-range Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv may be unrealistic, as the existing stockpiles are intended for the US Navy and other needs. Senior American officials recently confirmed that the White House is considering the supply of these missiles. It was also reported that the US will provide Ukraine with intelligence on targets in Russia's energy infrastructure at long distances.
