Serbia will not support Kosovo’s membership to the UN, President Aleksandar Vučić said in discussions with Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Blistrem on Wednesday.

In the discussions, Vučić discussed the normalisation of relations with Pristina and emphasised that the EU expects all provisions of the agreement reached in Ohrid to be implemented.

“I repeated that Serbia will fulfil what we said, but that Serbia will not support Kosovo’s membership in the UN. We have clearly informed all those participating in the negotiations and the other side and Borrell, Lajčak, Scholz, Macron and Blinken, and everyone on the globe with whom we spoke,” he said.

“Today is 10 years since the adoption of the Brussels Agreement. When the Association of Serbian Municipalities is formed, only when you fulfil it, we will do everything else. This is an obligation that has existed since 2013. We in Serbia are not so stupid. We are waiting for you to fulfil your obligations, then we will get down to business and show how reliable a partner we are,” he added.

“So that we don’t end up as some other agreements ended, and after that, wars broke out because some European leaders said that it was a game and a bridge so that some would get time,” he also said.

Vučić also noted that he understood all of Sweden’s messages, including about introducing sanctions and relations with Pristina, noting that Serbia longs to be militarily neutral.

Highlighting Serbia’s independence and sovereignty, Vučić noted that his country would decide by taking into account “what you, as our closest partners from the EU, told us”.

“I hope that you will come to our country even more often,” he added.
