Altice France has taken “preventive measures” like launching an internal investigation and assessing how the company is being impacted after police searches occurred on its local unit as part of an ongoing criminal investigation in Portugal, it announced.
In a statement, Altice France – one of Europe’s leading telecommunications groups – said it “takes note” of the current investigation by Portugal’s office of public prosecutions “against individuals associated with Altice, as well as external entities”, an action dubbed Operation Picoas by prosecutors.
Altice recalls that the office has clarified that the investigation focuses on “harmful practices by which Altice Portugal and its subsidiaries are impacted and therefore victims of fraud” by individuals.
