A local court in Montenegro’s capital Podgorica sentenced on Monday international fugitive Kwon Do-hyeong, the founder of a collapsed crypto company, also known as Do Kwon, and his business associate Hon Chang Yon, to four months in prison for falsifying travel documents, FENA reported.

The two men were arrested in Montenegro in March as they were attempting to fly to Dubai.

“Their documents were confiscated – two Costa Rican and two Belgian passports, as well as two identity cards,” a court statement said.

The duo were indicted for falsifying travel documents, which they had planned to use to fly from Montenegro to Dubai on a private plane on 23 March, when the police apprehended them.

Do Kwon has been subject to an Interpol arrest warrant for international crypto fraud worth $40 billion relating to the collapse of the cryptocurrencies terraUSD and Luna and is wanted by both South Korea and the US.

The Podgorica court still has to rule on any extradition request, FENA said.
