Firstly, they endorsed a 15% minimum tax for large multinational companies, aligning with the international agreement established by the OECD. This decision holds particular significance in various cantons where such a tax requirement was not in place.

Additionally, the voters showed their backing for increased public funding aimed at combating climate change.
The approved legislation encompasses a gradual reduction in oil and gas consumption, incentivising the adoption of climate-friendly heating systems through government financial support. Furthermore, companies investing in climate protection initiatives will receive financial assistance from the state. The ultimate objective of these measures is for Switzerland to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

In the third referendum, 62% of the electorate supported the current government measures implemented to address the COVID-19 pandemic. This marks the Swiss citizens’ third approval of the Covid-19 law, enabling the implementation of protective measures in case of a resurgence of the pandemic.
