The European Commission should soon release the second tranche of the Recovery and Resilience Plan as Portugal is currently implementing the first one, Prime Minister António Costa said Sunday.
Costa, also the Secretary-General of Portugal’s Socialist Party, said this at the closing of the congress of the Federation of the Urban Area of Lisbon (FAUL), in Vila Franca de Xira.
“Many thought it would be impossible to get” the EU funds foreseen under the previous programming period 2014 to 2020, fulfil the recovery and resilience plan (RPP) and at the same time start getting EU funds for the next decade, Costa also said.
“Fortunately, everyone has overcome that pessimism, and now they just point to the low execution of the RRP. It’s the same as if they were wrong the first time. They’ll be wrong the second time,” Costa added.
The plan “is being implemented step by step and according to the timetable” agreed upon with the European Commission, he added. (Sara Madeira | Lusa.pt)
