The Ukrainian roadmap, formulated in line with European standards pertaining to ethnic minorities, will comprehensively address Hungary’s concerns. The related activities are already in progress, as stated by Deputy Prime Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka, RBC-Ukraine conveys.
“There’s a fitting benchmark for respecting ethnic minorities within the requirements for states within the European Union. There’s a strategy we’ve devised together with this plan, and initiatives are being implemented concerning ethnic minorities. These fully accommodate every concern of Hungary,” mentioned Káčka during the “Roadmap on the Rule of Law: One Year After Adoption” forum.
According to Kachka, commencing the primary section of discussions concerning EU membership will positively affect Hungary’s viewpoint on safeguarding ethnic minorities. Kyiv hopes that initiatives will begin with the establishment of a new Hungarian administration. Notably, Kachka voiced his hope for commencing all six sections on May 26 or June 16.
“But for us to uphold political agreement and support, it’s quite crucial to adopt these verdicts by the European Union and subsequently together until the conclusion of Cyprus’ term as President of the European Union,” he supplemented.
In the past, news outlets reported that Hungary’s newly appointed Prime Minister, Peter Magyar, seeks expanded privileges for the Hungarian population in Ukraine. Kyiv must satisfy this request before Budapest approves formal negotiations concerning Ukraine’s EU membership.
