Turkey is considering the possibility of participating in the demining of the Strait of Hormuz: under what conditions is this possible?

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Turkey could consider participating in mine clearance operations in the Strait of Hormuz after a possible peace deal between Iran and the United States. Fidan told reporters that a technical team would carry out mine clearance work in the strait after any agreement, adding that Turkey welcomed such efforts and saw them as a humanitarian duty, Reuters reports.

Fidan said that any demining work would be carried out by a technical team from various countries, formed after a possible peace agreement between Iran and the United States.

“Turkey will have no problem participating in demining operations under these conditions,” he added.

Fidan warned that Turkey would reconsider its position if any future technical coalition of countries became a party to the renewed conflict.
