“The evening in Washington was simply wonderful. The Secret Service and law enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and boldly. The shooter was detained. I spoke in favor of continuing the event, but the final word is for the services. Perhaps the event will be organized again,” Trump wrote on the social network Truth Socia.

According to media reports, the man who opened fire during an event with Trump turned out to be a 31-year-old teacher from California named Cole Allen.

He collected the weapons in a restricted area near the terrace-level entrance. He was initially in a room with bar carts, where there were no guards.

The man then opened fire and rushed into the hall where the guests were gathered. The shooter's neighbor said that he probably “has an autism spectrum disorder”;

Media reports say Allen was armed with a shotgun, a pistol, and several knives.

President Donald Trump said authorities believe the shooting suspect is a “lone wolf.”

The White House chief added that the suspect was “fighting hard” when he fell. And he called him a “sick man.”

The suspect in the shooting has been charged with firearms and assault. Investigators believe the suspect was staying at the hotel, and it appears that is how he was able to enter the hotel during the incident.

The suspect was taken to the hospital for examination, although he was not injured by a firearm.

The shooter's motives are currently unknown and it is unknown who the suspect intended to shoot.

Recall that in 2024, Trump was targeted twice. He was targeted during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The second time, he was shot while playing golf in Florida.
