Following a potential accord between Iran and the United States, Turkey is considering involvement in mine sweeping activities within the Hormuz Strait.
This information was relayed by the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, according to reports from Reuters.
He mentioned that after the attainment of a settlement, a specialized team is slated to execute mine removal operations in the strait, also expressing that Turkey views such endeavors favorably as a humanitarian obligation.
Fidan further clarified that any demining efforts would be implemented by a technical group from numerous nations, established subsequent to a prospective peace arrangement between Iran and the US.
Given these circumstances, Turkey “will not encounter difficulties” in joining demining activities, asserts Erdogan’s principal diplomatic representative.
Concurrently, Fidan cautioned that Turkey would reevaluate its stance should any subsequent technical coalition of nations become embroiled in the resumed conflict.
