The US military has stationed Ukrainian counter-drone technology at a critical US airbase in Saudi Arabia, aiming to shield it from incursions by Iranian “Shaheeds.”
This information was disseminated by Reuters, citing insights from five individuals with knowledge of the matter.
At issue is the deployment of Ukraine’s Sky Map anti-drone platform at the strategically important US Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia. Back in March, the airbase was targeted by Iran, resulting in the devastation of aircraft and structures, along with the loss of at least one service member.
In recent weeks, Ukrainian military specialists arrived at the base to educate Americans on the system employed in Ukraine to identify and thwart Iranian “Shaheeds.”
The news source underscored that the implementation of the Ukrainian drone defense platform occurred a month after US President Donald Trump publicly declined Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s proposition to offer support in countering Iranian drone assaults.
“We don’t require their assistance in defending against drones,” Trump communicated to Fox News on March 6.
The utilization of Ukrainian technologies by the American military has not been formally acknowledged by either the US Central Command or the Sky Fortress enterprise, the proprietor of Sky Map.
As previously documented, Iran initiated a missile attack on the US Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, leaving ten US soldiers wounded. A US Air Force E-3 Sentry AWACS airborne early warning and control plane was destroyed.
