Elections in Bulgaria: CEC summarizes results – the result was surprising

Bulgaria's Central Election Commission has announced the final results of the parliamentary elections, with 100% of ballots counted. The victory went to the newly formed Progressive Bulgaria party, led by former President Rumen Radev.

The relevant data is published on the official website of the country's Central Election Commission.

According to the results of the count, Radev's political force received 44.59% of the votes. This figure gives it the opportunity to form a single majority in parliament or become the basis for creating a dominant coalition.

Other participants in the race fell significantly behind the leader. The GERB-SDS bloc came in second with 13.3%, and the Continuing Changes – Democratic Bulgaria alliance came in third with 12.6%.

Also entering parliament are the liberal party “Movement for Rights and Freedoms” (7.1%) and the pro-Russian political force “Renaissance”, which received 4.2% of the vote.

Rumen Radev has already declared his party's victory, stressing that Bulgaria “will make every effort to continue its European course.”

Sunday's election, Bulgaria's eighth in five years, was called amid mass protests over the government's economic policies and dissatisfaction with the fight against corruption.

Radev is known to have called for the restoration of ties with Russia. He was president of Bulgaria for nine years, from 2017 to January 2026. He then resigned to lead a new center-left group of parties, Progressive Bulgaria. Radev is a Eurosceptic and opposes military aid to Ukraine.

As a reminder, in Hungary, according to the final vote count, the opposition party “Tisa” of Peter Magyar won the parliamentary elections. It receives a solid constitutional majority and will have 141 seats in parliament.
