Even though discussions with Iran broke down, US President Donald Trump prolonged the armistice, which commenced on April 8 and was scheduled to conclude on April 22.
The White House leader communicated this on his social media platform, Truth Social.
Trump clarified that he extended the truce with Iran awaiting the submission of proposals by the Iranians and the completion of internal debates within the country.
“Considering the notable division within the Iranian government, quite unexpectedly, and following the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, we have been asked to suspend our attack on Iran until their leaders and delegates can present a cohesive proposition,” the US president stated.
Trump specified that he instructed the US military to maintain the blockade and uphold their readiness for combat.
“I will continue the truce until their offer is presented and the discussions come to a close, one way or another,” Trump concluded.
