On the eve of the first round of talks in Pakistan, which did not result in an agreement for the US and Iran, US President Donald Trump declared that he was ready to continue the war in case the negotiators failed. Now, when, according to media reports, the possibility of another meeting is being discussed before the end of the ceasefire declared by Trump (until April 22), the head of the White House himself stated that the war in the Middle East is “close to being over.”

According to Deutsche Welle, Trump said this during a conversation with Fox News journalist Maria Bartiromo.
When asked if the war with Iran was over, Trump replied: “I think it is… I had to intervene because if I hadn't done that, right now you would have an Iran that has nuclear weapons.”
The journalist once again clarified the question about the end of the war and received the answer: “I think it's close to ending, yes. I mean, I think it's very close to ending.”

Regarding the talks with Iran, Trump does not rule out that another meeting could take place in the coming days. “Something could happen in the next couple of days, and we're more inclined to go there,” Trump said in a telephone interview with the New York Post.
Recall that after the failed negotiations in Islamabad, the US announced a naval blockade of all Iranian ports, promising to intercept any ships entering or leaving Iranian ports in the Persian and Oman Gulfs from April 13.
