
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said he was “not surprised” by the failure of peace talks between the US and Iran.
“From the beginning, I didn't get the impression that they were really well prepared,” he told reporters in Berlin, Sky News reported.

The Chancellor did not explain who exactly the criticism was directed at.
21-hour talks between Washington and Tehran in Pakistan ended without an agreement.

US Vice President J. D. Vance said Iran had rejected American demands to refrain from developing nuclear weapons, while Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused the US of disrupting talks when they were “one step away from a deal”, without providing details. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said all efforts were still being made to resolve the Iran war.
It was previously reported that, according to a statement by the Iranian military, Iran will not give up control of the Strait of Hormuz, and Trump said that the US is preparing for a second round of war in Iran.
