The new leader called on the country's president, supreme judges, and attorney general to resign immediately.
“Those who betrayed the country must take responsibility. We will liberate Hungary and take back our country. Hungary will once again become a strong ally in the European Union and NATO. Hungary's place was, is and will be in Europe for a thousand years,” Magyar declared.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has conceded defeat, he said during an address to voters.
“We do not know now what the election results will mean for the fate of our country and nation – time will tell, but we will serve our country even in opposition. The burden of governance does not lie on our shoulders, so our task now is to strengthen our community,” the head of government emphasized.

Mass protests swept across the country the day before. Thousands of people took to the streets to support the leader of the opposition party “Tysy”.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated the opposition party “Tysa” and its leader Peter Magyar on their victory in the Hungarian elections. He published a congratulatory message in Hungarian, English, and Ukrainian on his X on the night of April 13.
“Ukraine has always sought good-neighborly relations with everyone in Europe, and we are ready to develop cooperation with Hungary. Europe and every European state must become stronger, and millions of Europeans seek cooperation and stability. We are ready for meetings and joint constructive work for the benefit of both peoples, as well as for the sake of peace, security and stability in Europe,” he noted.
As “FACTY” wrote, on the eve of the parliamentary elections in Hungary, details of Viktor Orban's cooperation agreements with Moscow became known. In December 2025, Budapest signed a 12-point agreement with Russia to expand economic, energy and cultural ties.
