Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mentioned that the ceasefire between the US and Iran is solely a temporary measure and doesn’t alter the strategic objectives of his nation.

He conveyed this message through a video statement, as reported by The Times of Israel.

According to Netanyahu, Israel remains resolute in seeing its operation through to its culmination — be it via diplomatic channels or through the use of force.

“And I wish to clarify: we still possess objectives to fulfill, and we shall accomplish them either by means of an accord or through the recommencement of hostilities. We stand prepared to revert to combat at any given moment. Our finger remains poised on the trigger,” he emphasized.

The Prime Minister also pointed out that the understanding between the US and Iran didn’t catch Israel off guard. In his view, the country has secured substantial achievements and currently finds itself in an improved position, while Iran is weakened.

Netanyahu underscored that Tehran had already entered the talks in a depleted state and had consented to a series of stipulations. Namely, this involves the opening of the Strait of Hormuz without preliminary demands, as well as relinquishing conditions concerning the removal of sanctions, reparations, and a cessation of hostilities in Lebanon.

Simultaneously, the Prime Minister highlighted that despite the ceasefire, Israel is not abandoning its aims regarding Iran and is poised to act resolutely if the need arises.

As a reminder, Israel initiated an extensive assault on Lebanon on Wednesday, April 8. The IDF reported the most significant offensive and 100 targets struck in 10 minutes. The bombardments aimed at Hezbollah command hubs and military installations in Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and southern Lebanon.

Reportedly, on the same day, US and Israeli forces opened fire on an Iranian oil processing plant located on Laban Island. Iran retaliated by attacking targets in Kuwait, Bahrain, and the UAE.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu concurred with Trump's suggested two-week cessation of fighting with Iran , but only on the condition that the Strait of Hormuz is unblocked and attacks within the region are halted. Concurrently, Israel does not extend the ceasefire to Lebanon and retains the prerogative to persist with combat operations in that area.
