Moldova contends that its entry into the European Union can fortify the safety of both the nation and the entire bloc, given that Chisinau is presenting EU members, where polls will be conducted shortly, with its experience in tackling Russian disinformation and destabilization initiatives.

As conveyed by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gerasimov in a comment to Politico, the country's incorporation into the EU is usually viewed as a security guarantee for Moldova, while also representing an investment in the overall safety of Europe.

Situated between Romania and Ukraine on the EU’s eastern flank, Moldova has evolved into a hub for confronting Russian hybrid threats in recent years. Presidential National Security Advisor Stanislav Secrieru emphasized that the nation has gathered hands-on knowledge in countering such problems, spanning from disinformation to cyberattacks.

“We are offering something unique. Hard-won wisdom and solutions tested in the field when it comes to Russian hybrid threats,” the official stated.

Chisinau is accusing Moscow of endeavors to meddle in elections and unbalance the situation leading up to crucial votes in 2024-2025. According to officials, these activities encompassed vote buying, cyber penetrations into vital infrastructure, and the proliferation of disinformation through online platforms. Russia refutes these assertions.
