Ukraine and Syria have consented to reestablish complete diplomatic ties and inaugurate embassies in Kyiv and Damascus.
This was communicated by the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgy Tykhyi, during an assembly at the Foreign Ministry, TSN.ua correspondent Olena Chernyakova conveys.
The sides came to an understanding to launch diplomatic missions in the capitals of both nations. Ukraine has already obtained formal approval from Syria to establish an embassy in Damascus by the commencement of 2026.
“We settled on the opening and recommencement of operations for the embassies of Ukraine and Syria in Damascus and Kyiv,” they stated during the session.
Practical groundwork is currently being performed: staff are being composed, properties are being examined for, and a blueprint to activate a diplomatic assignment is being implemented.
The Syrian authority, correspondingly, verified its willingness to inaugurate an embassy in Kyiv shortly.
“The establishment of reciprocal diplomatic institutions will signify a fresh phase in the advancement of relations with Syria,” the Foreign Ministry remarked.
Independently, amid the discussions, the tripartite configuration Ukraine-Syria-Turkey was deliberated, which could evolve into a substantial setting for partnership.
“This setup possesses considerable capability for guaranteeing steadiness between the Black and Mediterranean Seas,” the diplomats highlighted.
According to them, such a triad could become a vital connection between Europe, the Black Sea area, and the Middle East.
