The weather in April will amaze with its contrasts

The initial complete month of springtime has opted to astonish inhabitants of the Northern Hemisphere with intense meteorological disparities. While winter’s chill recurs in European nations, Asia and North America have encountered contrary temperature milestones.

The Twoja Pogoda website is issuing alerts regarding European frosts, with local weather bureaus examining the circumstances on other continents.

The return of winter to Europe

Despite the formal onset of spring, Arctic air persists in dictating conditions in Europe. Fresh snowfall reaches up to one meter in mountainous areas, and perilous nocturnal frosts are documented on the plains.

In the upcoming days, air temperatures might plunge to -5 degrees, and ground temperatures are projected to decrease to -9 degrees in certain locales.

Such drastic fluctuations pose significant risks to nascent plant development. Agriculturalists will need to extensively utilize crop covers to safeguard future yields.

“Although frosts will still reappear, we do not foresee frosts as severe as those encountered by our predecessors: for instance, in 1931, April temperatures plummeted to -22 degrees,” note Polish meteorological analysts.

In Ukraine, the all-time low temperature for April was likewise registered in 1931. At that time, the village of Syanky in the Lviv region experienced intense frost at -22 degrees. Conversely, the warmest April day occurred in 2012, when an exceptional +34.7 degrees was recorded in Crimea and the southern parts of our country.

Drought threat in the US

While Europeans are retrieving their warm outerwear, the United States is undergoing a distinctly different anomaly. According to projections from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), April will usher in substantially warmer-than-usual temperatures.

This will be particularly noticeable in the central and southern states, where temperatures are already surpassing historical norms by several degrees.

Instead of typical springtime rainfall, American farmers on the Plains are confronting a grave risk of early desiccation. The unusual heat and lack of rainfall in numerous regions are swiftly amplifying the likelihood of wildfires.

Abnormal heat in Asia

An even more remarkable climate scenario is developing in Asia. According to Asian meteorologists, this year’s April is poised to be among the warmest ever recorded.

Hazardous heat waves in Vietnam commenced at least 10-15 days sooner than typical. A parallel situation is being observed in India.

The local Meteorological Department (IMD) is reporting an alarmingly elevated count of hot days in April for the eastern and central areas of the country.

Specialists assert that extreme warmth and pronounced temperature contrasts globally are evolving into the new standard in the context of global warming.

As a reminder, the weather in Ukraine will worsen on April 3. Atmospheric pressure will decline somewhat, so light to moderate precipitation is anticipated nationwide.
