The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, declared that his nation “dismantled communism” and “expelled Soviet forces.” Now, as per his declaration on social media, Hungarians will not retreat before “Ukrainian President Zelensky, Brussels, or their collaborators within Hungary.”

Orban's message included a video taken from a likely pro-government gathering in Hungary conducted ahead of parliamentary elections. Following the Hungarian premier’s address, applause and cheers resound in the recording.

“If we managed to abolish communism, struggle for our liberty, dispatch the Soviet military home. If we managed to establish Hungary on a civic, national, Christian Constitution, then we shall not yield before Ukrainian President Zelensky, Brussels, or their agents inside Hungary. Don't make me chuckle,” Orban stated.

The Washington Post previously documented that in the prior month, a Russian external intelligence division raised concerns regarding Orban’s significant decrease in favor. The intelligence officers proposed that a drastic measure might be required and suggested organizing an assassination attempt on the Hungarian leader to “profoundly alter the entire framework of the electoral process.” The Hungarian government’s communications center indicated that the information was entirely untrue and “pro-Ukrainian propaganda.”

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelensky asserted that the Hungarian administration was disseminating anti-Ukrainian prejudice among its populace during the electoral period. Zelensky further expressed that such a circumstance is detrimental for all involved.
