US President Donald Trump, who is changing the reasons for the war with Iran, has privately expressed serious interest in the possible deployment of American troops in Iran. According to CBS News, citing sources, he has discussed with aides and Republicans options for the future of Iran after the war. In these scenarios, the country would be under the control of the new government, and Washington would cooperate with it in the field of oil production – by analogy with cooperation with Venezuela.

At the same time, sources emphasize that this was not a large-scale invasion, but only a small contingent of military personnel to carry out specific tasks. White House press secretary Caroline Levitt said that these assumptions are based on the words of anonymous sources who are not part of the president's national security team. According to her, Trump always keeps all options open, but has not made final decisions.
The White House has not publicly ruled out sending troops, although the fighting is currently limited to air strikes. Foreign policy experts suggest that this could be a matter of possible special operations — quick raids to destroy targets that cannot be hit by airstrikes.
Trump himself has said that the standoff between the US and Iran could last about four more weeks or “a little less,” and has emphasized the demand for Iran’s “unconditional surrender.” According to him, this could mean the complete destruction of the country’s military potential, even without a formal document of surrender.
