Prince William's bold move towards Princess Kate has proven his true love: he has become a shield to protect his wife. A new book reveals that William was about to declare war on the press over the Kate Middleton photo scandal. William demanded legal action after a French magazine published photos of Kate, secretly taken by paparazzi while she was sunbathing on holiday, Geo News reports.

The incident is described by historian Russell Myers in his new book, William and Catherine, which explores how they survived the storms that rocked Windsor Castle.
According to a royal expert, “William has always had a different relationship with the press, not necessarily as public as his brother.”
In 2012, a year after their wedding, William and Kate were vacationing in the south of France. And a paparazzi caught the princess sunbathing on the property with a long-lens camera.

Suddenly, “the couple’s world came crashing down.” They were told that a French magazine had published indecent photographs. One former aide told Myers that it was “as if time had stopped” for them. According to the book, William, horrified by this “invasion of privacy,” immediately made “frantic” calls to his father, then Prince Charles, and his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The prince informed them that he would not only immediately issue a public statement, but also file a lawsuit against the magazine for its “appalling behavior.”
This time he was ready to start a war with the press.
“Palace staff reacted furiously, suggesting that time had gone back 15 years to the dark days when paparazzi hounded Princess Diana to death,” Myers wrote. “Aides, describing the publication as ‘grotesque and completely unjustified,’ said the couple were ‘furious’ and felt ‘insulted’ and would be taking legal action.”
