“Air defense is being purchased from the US, and now they may need it for self-defense. Everyone understands that both are needed. We are currently conducting an operation against Iran, which is crucial for our security in Europe and, of course, for Israel. Therefore, we also provide support wherever we can. At the same time, the fight that Ukraine is waging against unjustified Russian aggression is also important for the security of Europe,” Rutte emphasized.

The NATO Secretary General stressed that the operation against Iran is of strategic importance not only for the United States and Israel, but also for all of Europe. At the same time, he acknowledged that Russia's war against Ukraine remains a key challenge to European security.

According to him, NATO operates on the principle of “both”: supporting the Americans in the Middle East campaign should not reduce assistance to Ukraine.

Ukraine is closely monitoring the statements of the Alliance leadership. Kyiv has repeatedly emphasized that air defense systems, in particular the American Patriot, are critically important for protection against Russian missile attacks.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously stated that Ukraine would do everything possible to increase its own weapons production to compensate for possible delays in supplies.

Earlier, US senators assessed the consequences for Ukraine of a war against Iran.
