Netflix Acquires Affleck’s AI Firm, InterPositive, for Movie Post-Production.

Netflix Inc. has finalized the purchase of InterPositive, a firm specializing in artificial intelligence technology for movie creation, established four years prior by the performer Ben Affleck.

InterPositive leverages AI to aid movie creators in executing processes like color grading, special effects, and frame interpolation, with the system enhancing its capabilities through continuous learning. The instrument is intended for post-production—implemented on a completed motion picture, instead of originating a new work from the beginning. Monetary specifics of the transaction remained undisclosed. Affleck will become affiliated with Netflix as a principal consultant, the organization conveyed in a media statement. InterPositive employs roughly a dozen individuals.

AI is progressively being utilized in the entertainment sector, with studios such as Walt Disney Co. and Paramount Skydance Corp. investigating the potential benefits of employing AI systems. This has additionally stimulated anxieties that the novel instruments may displace performers, authors, and other specialists from their occupations.

Affleck articulated that he was initially discouraged by the application of AI in cinematic production, according to a media communication. He, together with a small ensemble of technicians and scientists, formulated their exclusive dataset on location. “I perceived this as a tangible prospect and a credible hazard,” he stated. “But predominantly, I considered this to be a truly important breakthrough.”

Affleck garnered an Academy Award for Superior Original Screenplay alongside Matt Damon for Good Will Hunting (1997) and secured Best Picture as a creator for Argo (2012). In the current year, he served as a producer and lead actor with Damon in the criminal suspense The Rip, available on Netflix.
