On the eve of key talks in Geneva on a possible end to Russia's war against Ukraine, Armin Papperger, CEO of German defense concern Rheinmetall, made a statement that cooled optimistic expectations.

“Russia is not interested in a quick end to the war. Ukraine must continue to receive support, and the necessary equipment is available,” the German publication t-online quotes Papperger as saying.
The head of the concern emphasized that the company is already producing more ammunition than it has contracts for, and is ready to supply additional anti-aircraft guns, ammunition, and even tanks.
However, the main problem remains funding.

“We can supply more, but the company lacks the necessary financing,” he noted.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on partners to provide further assistance in the field of armaments at the Munich Security Conference. He also expressed hope that a cessation of hostilities could be possible by the summer, but emphasized: “This does not depend only on Ukraine. Security guarantees must include strong support packages from the United States.”
In addition, Zelenskyy expects the adoption of a “prosperity package” aimed at restoring Ukraine after the war.
