Trump on Epstein tapes: new files reveal thousands of mentions of US president's name in sex offender case

Following the Congressional decision, the U.S. Department of Justice has released another staggering array of materials — more than three million pages of documents potentially related to the case of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Unlike the previous one, the new filing includes two thousand videos and 180 thousand photos, as well as numerous emails and witness interrogation protocols.

BBC journalists have already begun analyzing some of the files, and the first conclusions are causing a real political earthquake. The name of US President Donald Trump is mentioned more than three thousand times among the documents.

According to the BBC, the materials describe parties at Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence, where Epstein allegedly brought children. There are allegations that the US president put them up for a kind of “auction” among wealthy guests. The documents also contain evidence of Trump's accusation of allegedly raping an underage girl.

Also in the materials related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, there is a photo of Britain's Prince Andrew kneeling on all fours over a woman lying on the ground.

In another email, the famous billionaire Richard Branson writes to Epstein: “Whenever you are in the area, I will be happy to see you. The main thing is that you bring your harem!”

According to emails included in the release of the Epstein files, billionaire businessman and U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Latnick planned to visit Little St. James Island, where Epstein lived, with his family.

The Justice Department notes that this data may be unverified, as all materials received by the FBI from citizens were included in the case. The agency even deleted one of the documents twice after publication, but it is now available on the website again.

The newspaper reports that in a 2018 interview transcript, one of the victims said she was sexually assaulted after she shared a story of previous harassment with Epstein. Another witness in June 2020 reported on former Trump adviser Steve Bannon's ties to Epstein.

The published materials also mention other names of world-famous personalities. For example, Epstein's letter from 2013 mentions Microsoft founder Bill Gates. It talks about an alleged sexually transmitted infection after contact with “Russian girls.” Gates called these claims “absolutely absurd.”

Another document contains a letter from Elon Musk to Epstein, in which the businessman asks about the possibility of visiting his island. Whether the visit took place is unknown, but the very fact of communication raises new questions.

The release of these files could be the most high-profile scandal of Donald Trump's political career. While the Justice Department warns that much of the material may be unverified, the sheer number of references and the nature of the allegations are a real political explosion.

Previously, we reported on the facts of the violence on Epstein's island, which were outlined in her posthumous memoirs by one of the victims, Virginia Giuffre. As well as evidence that Epstein offered the Kremlin a “key” to understanding Trump.
