US Vice President J.D. Vance is scheduled to travel to Azerbaijan and Armenia the following month, declared US President Donald Trump on Friday, January 23, after both nations finalized a peaceful accord in Washington in August, Reuters communicated .
According to Trump’s statement, Vance will be visiting Azerbaijan and Armenia with the goal of furthering Trump’s “path towards global peace and prosperity.”
“We will fortify our vital alliance with Azerbaijan, achieve a remarkable agreement on amicable nuclear collaboration with Armenia, secure deals for our premier semiconductor corporations, and supply Azerbaijan with US-manufactured defense resources, including protective gear, vessels, and more,” Trump conveyed on the Truth Social media platform.
He also voiced his gratitude to the leaders of both countries for adhering to the arrangement.
The understanding, resulting from nearly four decades of conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the mountainous territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, involved both countries relinquishing any claims to the other’s domain, agreeing to abstain from using force against one another, and pledging to uphold international regulations.
This week, Armenia revealed intentions to integrate its power networks with Azerbaijan to facilitate the import and export of electrical power within a project backed by the US.
