Across Asia, devastating tropical cyclones have claimed over a thousand lives, with Indonesia and Sri Lanka being among the nations most severely affected by these rain-laden systems.

The confluence of three tropical cyclones with the typical northeast monsoon, which seasonally delivers substantial rainfall to Southeast Asia, triggered widespread devastation in the area.

On Sumatra Island, Indonesia, intense tempestuous conditions have resulted in at least 442 confirmed deaths and 402 individuals unaccounted for, while in Thailand, the number of lives lost has reached 169.

In Indonesia, transit routes are impassable and communications infrastructure is impaired, thereby hindering rescue and aid operations.

The number of fatalities attributed to extreme inundations in Sri Lanka saw a sharp increase on Sunday, almost doubling to 334. Furthermore, 370 individuals remain missing.

Cyclone Ditwah is projected to bring significant precipitation to portions of southern India starting Monday.

As previously reported, the potent storm Claudia unleashed severe meteorological phenomena across Portugal, sections of Spain, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. The inclement weather led to three deaths and multiple injuries.
